Naomi Sanchez

Midwife / Founder: Naomi Sanchez
Born and raised in Okinawa to Peruvian parents, Naomi has firsthand experience growing up as a foreigner in Japan.
After graduating from the Midwifery Program at Okinawa Prefectural College of Nursing, she worked as a midwife at a general hospital in Okinawa.
Following her resignation, she gained experience abroad as a “dedicated midwife”, providing continuous support for pregnant women. This experience inspired her to advocate for seamless, midwife-led maternity care.
Upon returning to Japan, she worked as a district midwife in a government agency to deepen her understanding of maternal and child health in the community.
After witnessing the many challenges faced by foreign residents, she established KOKUA, a home-visit midwifery clinic, with the mission of providing care that transcends nationality and language barriers.
